  4. nipona71 says:

    Beautiful, I love Canada

  5. kilace says:

I can’t find the official video of the poem!

  6. oilers56789 says:

I saw this at the opening ceremonies and I think you totally knocked it out of the park.

Before I thought the most apt description of Canada is “A person who asks himself what is a canadian”. But your poem is so true and so moving

  7. LodoDuff says:

After I saw this during the opening ceremonies I was jealous, just for a moment, that I was American, not Canadian. This is AMAZING!!!!

  8. dfcronk says:

good to hear at the opening ceremonies.

  9. ColaYum says:

This is so true! Amazing work of art.

  10. Heliox18 says:

Fucking loved that in the Opening Ceremonies
    You are a testimony
    not a crony
    a tear in my eye
    and a sigh
    no lie
you wrapped your fist around the truth
    the essence
    and gave it sense
    and then gave it back
    to me.

  11. cbteacher says:

    Well done! Congratulations. :)

  12. Awesomeaphobic says:

Anybody else think this sounded a little better at the ceremony, it still sounds good, just a little rushed is all.

  13. gobblinmeat says:

Are u really stupid enough to think that the monarchys political implications end at symbol and ceremony?” And are u stupid enough to think that its the monarchy that safeguards our identity as Canadians from the American vortex? Maybe it does but thats no reason to keep it… it’s your kind of ignorance that wants to stifle this country

  14. SarahLee1 says:

Yes, we ARE much much more!!!

  15. d00dlefreak says:

    ..that’s a poem?

  16. O1toolsteel says:

I thought about thumbing you down, then I did.

  17. vinoberg says:

craving more shane? check out the short video i uploaded of him playing KELOWNA, BC just a week before the olympics

  18. TheCollegeVlog says:

really….. the monarchy has no control over us… its just a tradition… they hold no weight at all in a decision making

  19. TrollyMcTrollerson says:

    @luckybestwash
Most countries do it to one another, except that it’s usually in a humerous manner. It seems that some Americans have a sense of entitlement and a fragile ego that provokes inappropriate, mean-spirited remarks.

  20. natedawg3654 says:

Are you really stupid enough to fear a ceremonial monarchy?

    loool

  21. starfruitmango says:

What are you implying by saying “typical Canadian education”?
By saying that, you are proving my point.

  22. luckybestwash says:

Yeah, every other country. I can see you have a typical Canadian education.

  23. starfruitmango says:

I could say the same about the US.. except that it seems US puts down and bullies every other country on the planet to make themselves seem better.

  24. eugeniussr says:

    Awe-some!
What a great comment upon what our country is. Thank you Shane!
    Great work :)

  25. gobblinmeat says:

DOWN WITH THE MONARCHY! what do we do after queen elizabeth? twiddle our thumbs while Canadas next Foreign Monarch is declared…or rise up and make a stand for our sovereignty!! This poem is a celebration but it also gets you thinking about just how “free” we are…
I am very happy for us though, this is a great time to be alive in our country. Don’t misconstrue this as anti-canadian; think before you write something hateful or thumb down this post.
